Year Nine

In year nine we got to know our class and teachers for the future we also got to test out modules to see what we like the best. I liked the creative arts like music, drama and sowing the best. I also met a whole bunch of new people during year nine. I'm hoping our class will be more settled during year 10 and we will actually be able to do some work.

Robotics

Robotics
How Does The terrain Of Mars Effect Your Design
Our Mars Lander needs big strong wheels to get over sharp rocks and bumpy uneven land. We may also need lights and windscreen wipers in case of dust.
The Designing Process
The design process is a process that helps you to imagine create carry out and improve an idea. The first step of this process is ask, this means to ask why we have to carry out projects like these ones. For this step our class discussed this when we first started our projects. The second step is imagine, this means to imagine what you want to achieve. For this step we had to create an idea in our head about what our Mars Lander would look like and function. The third step is plan, this means how are you going to achieve your goal what are you going to need how is it going to work? For this step we made designs on paper with what we think Mars Landers need. The fourth step is create, this means to create your project according to your plan. We did this step by making a 3D and model and we are currently making a lego model. The fifth step is experiment, this means to test your creation and see what it could improve at. We are still currently making our final product. The sixth and final step is improvement, this means to improve your project and fix the flaws you have noticed in it. We are currently still making our final product. Our group of me Fern and Lillie, have started to create our design out of lego, we are following Lillie and Fern’s design about a G-Wagon Mars Lander.
-A Bit About Mars
Mars is about 142 million miles away from the sun.

Mars has two suns.A year on mars is almost twice as long as a year on earth, (687 days.)It would take more than six of mars to fill the volume of earth. On mars you’d experience 62.5% less gravity than your used to.-CodingOur class is currently working on coding with spheros. We played a coding game called CodeCombat before this to learn how to code. We have been programming sphero commands on the iPad and bringing our learning from earlier to this task, we also watched helpful videos on how to correctly programme for the sphero. We are learning to make it roll, speak, roll in squares and so on. We will be using the sphero to move our Mars Landers, the current Mars Landers are made out of lego and designed to move with the sphero as one big middle wheel.
-Designing My Mars Lander
I first drove the robots on the Mars Lander simulator.
Then I got some ideas and drew up a prototype about how I wanted my Mars Lander to look and work.
Finally I drew a 3D model of my Mars Lander on TinkerCad.
Mars Rover Simulation
We went onto a link t learn to drive the Mars Lander.
A Bit About Insight
Insight is a scientific mission to discover more about the core of Mars it’s layers and workings. If this mission is successful it will give us even more insight about the rest of the planets inside our solar system and even outside of our solar system if we ever reach it. They are planning on using a machine that will dig into the surface of Mars and gather inform about the temperature and soil of Mars.
Hypothesis
I think our Mars Lander would be able to move over the terrain of Mars and be able to survive the harsh conditions.
Reasoning Behind The Hypothesis
Things That May Affect The Outcome Are:
Large objects falling on top of our Mars Lander,
The equipment malfunctioning,
The rocket getting damaged,
Aliens could damage our equipment.
We have put on big strong wheels that won’t get cut by rocks. The Sphero provides our light and our design is hardy and can even flip over and still work! It can also go in many different directions at many different speeds. Our design can change size and shape to roll with the terrain it also has extreme flexibility and is able to keep rolling in almost all conditions! We have bright lights to see through dust and hardy cameras.
Our Mission
Our Mission to Mars is to be able to move easily over the terrain and bring some Mars rocks dusts and other bits and bobs back to Earth.

Art Technology

In Art Technology we practised shading with 3D shapes then we took that skill on to create a shaded robot drawing as seen above. We then made necklace drawing mine is of my infinity dragon necklace. Lastly we learned to use water colour paints on the drawing directly above. We also had some time to draw creatively two of my favourite creative drawings are shown below:

Trinket Arrow

Today we coded in Trinket. We created little creatures and made them move around the screen. We were meant to have a colored background but nobody would show me how. :/ We had to write out a code from a different Trinket so we learnt how to code ourselves.

Soccer Coding Game

Soccer Coding Game During our time in robotics we have studied a range of different activity including mars, art and coding. This activity is part of the coding activity. We were given a field a base code to follow and were told to get a certain amount of each type of player with different colors and names. I chose black for the goal keeper, purple for the full backs, light green for the mid fields and white for the forwards. We also had to fiddle about with the X and Y axis to correctly place our players. I made my team of eight players and they all had coding similar to this:
-drawPlayer("black",-0,-194,"Goal Keeper")
We also made a robot coding face however that task is not included in this blog post.
